A quality interior painting process includes the following steps:

• Move all furniture to center of room.
• Mask off all furniture, flooring, and light fixtures.
• If there is any water damaged areas on ceilings or walls, which may be caused by a roof or plumbing leak, replace the sheet rock. Then match existing texture on the new sheet rock.
• Patch any holes and cracks in the sheet rock, which may be caused by foundation movement. On the patches, match the surrounding texture.
• Apply quality ceiling paint to entire ceiling.
• Apply two coats of quality interior wall paint to all walls.
• If an accent color is desired, first apply a dark color primer such as a dark grey. Then apply the top coat using quality interior wall paint.
• If you are painting over dark walls, first apply a quality primer over the dark paint. Then apply the top coat using quality interior wall paint.
• Sand all trim using a high grid sand paper. Clean and prep using primer and quality caulking. Then apply a top coat using quality interior enamel trim paint.

Useful tip: If priming is required prior to any painting, ask the paint store to tint the primer as close to the main color as possible. For red colors, you can use a dark grey primer.
